Virtual Leadership Development Series Hosted by the TN Chamber of CommerceLesson 5: Emotional Intelligence in the WorkplaceLeaders are faced with many situations and must learn to remain calm in the face of adversity and stay sensitive to the needs of direct reports, peers and authority figures. A leader with high emotional intelligence can manage his or her own impulses, communicate with others effectively, manage change well, solve problems, and use humor to build rapport in tense situations. This lesson reviews self–awareness and self- management, how to manage your emotions, and understand others’ emotions and how to manage in the workplace.Today’s leader must be versatile and adaptable. This training is designed for department heads, front line supervisors, team leaders and coordinators whether they are new to the position or have been in a leadership role for years. Course Delivery
Blended Learning - Online, Self-Paced and Instructor Led
Participants will receive a link to the online portion of the course one week prior to the class date, to complete on their own. This is a 1 hour self-paced lesson. Participants will then join a 90 minute, virtual instructor-led class to review course material and apply knowledge through class activities.
Participants will be awarded a badge for each course they complete. A Leadership Development Certificate will be awarded to those participants completing all 7 courses within the certification.Instructor:

Six Sigma Yellow Belt
Most employees serve as team members, not as team leaders. This course teaches Six Sigma skills and tools that will enable participants to become fully contributing members and assist leaders of Green Belt and Black Belt projects and focuses on basic process improvement skills, including process mapping and problem-solving tools. Participants will become well versed in foundation elements of six sigma concepts and how to apply in projects.COURSE OBJECTIVES
- Review of the DMAIC Roadmap with focus on the Define and Measure stages;
- Overview of the SIPOC mapping tool and Current State Value Stream Mapping;
- Definition and identification of the two different types of variation – common cause and special cause;
- Understanding of basic problem solving tools to identify root cause: 5 Whys and 6Ms/Fishbone Diagram;
- Introduction of two of the basic analysis tools, Pareto charts and Histograms.
