1.10 Lock, Tag, Try: Affected Employees | Instructor-Led (1Hr)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, thermal, or other sources in machines and equipment can be hazardous to workers. Proper lock, tag, try procedures must be in place to safeguard employees from serious injury and death. 


This lesson is for affected employees that do not actually lockout equipment, but their jobs are affected when equipment is locked out. Training an affected employee is essential because they could cause injury to themselves or to the employee performing lockout if they attempt to bypass the lockout. 

Δ Annual recertification may be required depending on the worksite regulations.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
  • Recognize the roles of affected and authorized employees in the lock, tag, try process;
  • Understand the purpose of the lock, tag, try procedure;
  • Identify the types of lockout devices and how they are used;
  • Recognize hazardous energy sources; 
  • Identify the purpose and use of energy control devices and procedures;
  • Recognize required actions when encountering locks and tags in the workplace;
  • Define what the LOTO standard requires of you and how to make sure you are in compliance.
