Active Shooter Training: Surviving the Violent Encounter

Active shooter training is essential for preparing individuals and organizations to respond effectively in the event of a violent attack. This training equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to minimize casualties, protect themselves and others, and assist law enforcement during a crisis.

Course Led by: Dewey V. Woody, Jr., Special Agent, FBI JTTF
Dewey Woody is a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security and will be presenting this instructor-led training. Agent Woody is a veteran of the U.S. Army, Bradley County Sheriff's Department, Cleveland Police Department, Chief of Bradley County Fire-Rescue, and deputy director and chief operating officer of TEMA before joining the Homeland Security agency.

Today’s leader must be versatile and adaptable. Effective leadership results in everything from increased workplace productivity and employee retention, to improved succession planning and, ultimately, a better bottom line. Wherever two or more people come together, there is the possibility of conflict. This course gives participants a six-step process that they can use to modify and resolve conflicts of any size. Participants will also learn crucial conflict resolution skills, including disagreeing diplomatically and using the Agreement Frame. 


This training is designed for managers, department heads, front line supervisors, team leaders and coordinators whether they are new to the position or have been in a leadership role for years.
 

Course Delivery
Blended Learning - Online/Self-Paced and Virtual/Instructor-Led

Participants will receive a link to the online portion of the course one week prior to the class date, to complete on their own. This is a 1 hour self-paced lesson. Participants will then join a 90 minute, virtual instructor-led class to review course material and apply knowledge through class activities.


Participants will be awarded a badge for each course they complete. A Leadership Development Certificate will be awarded to those participants completing all 7 courses within the certification.

Six Sigma White Belt
The Six Sigma White Belt Certification is an entry level class that will introduce participants to a Lean and Six Sigma overview, along with the DMAIC process improvement roadmap. After completing this course, participants will understand how the two methodologies work in synergy to implement an overall process improvement strategy. 


COURSE OBJECTIVES
  • Define Lean & Six Sigma;
  • Review of the history of Lean Six Sigma;
  • Develop understanding of the differences and benefits of the Lean Six Sigma methodologies;
