COURSE DESCRIPTION
Employee success skills are the building block skills that are critical for success in the workplace, and a career in general. Employers look for these skills in addition to their job-related skills and they play an important role in improving an employees’ performance and value in the workplace. Sharpen skills in basic skill areas to raise your likelihood of advancing a career in manufacturing.


COURSE OBJECTIVES

Lesson 1: Intro to OSHA
  • What rights do you have under OSHA?
  • What responsibilities does your employer have under OSHA?
  • What are the OSHA standards?
Lesson 2: Math Foundations
  • Become familiar with basic math principles applicable to manufacturing operators;
  • Demonstrate accurate measurement skill required in manufacturing environments.
Lesson 3: 5S for the Workplace
  • Know the 5S's and the benefits of each;
  • Be able to implement 5S throughout a facility and understand how to sustain it;
  • Define the benefits of a visually managed workplace and learn how to spot abnormalities quickly.
Lesson 4: Root Cause Analysis
  • Outline steps for effective problem solving;
  • Understand importance of root cause analyis;
  • Differentiate between basic root cause analysis tools;
  • Demonstrate use of root cause analyis tools;
Lesson 5: Communication Skills for the Workplace
  • Understand the basics of listening;
  • Explore active and empathetic listening skills and assess your ability;
  • Learn how to communicate when there is conflict.
Lesson 6: Working Effectively in Teams
  • Describe effective communication techniques you can use in a team environment;
  • Discouss how to overcome the barriers your team may face.
  • Understand conflict and various sources;
  • Identify your dominant style of conflict management and learn others';
  • Learn a model for managing conflict;
  • Understand how to deal with difficult people.
Lesson 7: Resolving Conflict with Co-Workers
  • Understand conflict and the various sources;
  • Identify your dominant style of conflict management and learn others';
  • Gain an understanding of how to deal with difficult people.
Lesson 8: Preparing for Career Advancement
  • Understand what the appropriate dress attire is for an interview;
  • Learn what not to wear for an interview;
  • Review some of the basic examples of behavioral interview questions and techniques to response to them.
